The former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, has said that there is still a slight chance of Luis Suarez staying at Anfield.

Suarez himself has said a number of times recently that he is not happy with the way he was treated by the British media in the last season and that’s why; he is looking for opportunities outside England.

These statements of Suarez have led to the speculations that he will not be a part of Liverpool next season.

However, the Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, told the reporters a few days back that neither Suarez nor his agent has told him that the player wants transfer. Rodgers also made it clear that no club has approached him either making bid for Suarez.

When asked about this Suarez saga, Carragher said, “I think Luis might continue at Liverpool. He is a class player and he is at the peak of his game at the moment. So, there will be interests for him, but, I think Liverpool will be able to convince him to stay.”

“Luis is vital for the club. He was in extraordinary form last season and was probably the best striker in the league. No club wants to put such players on sale.”

When asked which team is the strongest contender to win the league next season, Carragher said, “With Jose Mourinho coming back, I believe Chelsea would be really tough to beat. They always had a good bunch of guys and now, they have got one of the world’s best managers as well. So, their chances are looking good for the next season.”

Chelsea had finished at no. 3 in the Premier League points table last season. They had managed to secure 75 points, 14 less than the Champions Manchester United.
