Barcelona are reportedly monitoring Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford as a long term replacement for Luis Suarez. The 21-year-old is viewed as an excellent signing for the club and the Nou Camp outfit are monitoring his current contract situation.

Rashford has a year left on his contract at Old Trafford an the club is currently negotiating a new contract with the player. However, the contract negotiations have continued to drag and there are concerns within the United camp.

Rashford is famed for his pace and ability to strike the ball cleanly with his knuckleball technique. Since making his debut under Van Gaal in 2016 the England international has continued his development into a quality player.

The 21-year-old had a low-key start to the season under Jose Mourinho but has burst into life since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and scored the winner in the second leg of the Champions League tie away at PSG

United have no intentions of selling the forward who is one of their prized assets in the club. It is understood that Barcelona would try to test Manchester United resolve by submitting a transfer bid for the player in the summer. A fee of around €80 million is being prepared by the Catalan club for the player in the summer.

Barcelona have also lined up other options including high flying Serbian forward Luka Jovic who has impressed in the Bundesliga this season. The 21-year-old has been watched by Barcelona scouts and the club views him as a cheaper option to Rashford.

Barcelona have already confirmed the signing of Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong and are also in contention to sign his teammate De Ligt.  The Catalan outfit faces Manchester United in the Champions League next week and Rashford would be one to watch out for.
